BOTOX FOR FACIAL WRINKLES:
Botox is a natural, purified protein that is
administered at very low doses below the skin in a 10 minute treatment that consists of a
few tiny injections. For years, Botox has been used as a nonsurgical treatment for
uncontrollable facial spasms and disorders of the eye (such as misaligned eyes). Now it is
used as a safe and effective way to reduce facial wrinkles without surgery.
Dr. Sacks
injects the Botox directly into the targeted facial muscles. The effects of Botox-induced
muscle relaxation begin to occur within three to five days. By the end of the first week,
you will probably notice a significant reduction of fine lines and wrinkles around the
treated areas. Repeat injections of Botox may be given after the effect wears off, usually
within four to five months. The most common facial sites to be treated are the glabellar
region (between the eye brows), the skin adjacent to the eyes (crow's feet), and the
forehead skin.
Most patients go right back to work or continue
their activities immediately after the procedure. The most common side effects are
bruising at the site of injection, which is temporary and can be covered up by makeup.
Other side effects include headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid
droop, and nausea.
Ask Dr. Sacks if
you have any questions regarding Botox. |
